just read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.
An elder that's a misnomer for a start ; If an elder who has suddenly been given the right and ability presumably from Jehovah to advise on how to manage a persons or families finance then it should be sauce for the gander let's have a look at the elders financial arrangement first just to check he has his own house in order.
If an elder should sit down next to me which is very unlikely as I am now light years away from the Witnesses but if I was back in the Big Lie I would have another form printed ready with the expense details of my plan of expenditure for keeping a roof over my head especially as I was told to expect the New World any time during the 1950s when I was a young man.
The first thing I would say to the financially non qualified elder would be You are are having a laugh yes? and the second thing I would say is Have I got stupid across my forehead ?
i just finished reading this and enjoyed it.
however, if i was newly awakening or on the verge of awakening, i dont think this book would have helped me a great deal.
brother schnell has some good thoughts, however, he is short on detail and description, and even shorter on proof and documentation.. it is interesting reading about the transition of the bible students from a small group of independent noncomformists into an organization characterized by total conformity.
In addition I have to ensure that I make sure to spell sure correctly in the title when I write Make Sure of All Things see what happens when you do not make sure.!!!!!!!!!

I agree compared with Ray Franz's book there is no comparison but at that time in the mid 1960s it was a life raft ok a rickety wooden pallet if you like and I jumped off it a couple of times but it got me to a much larger search and rescue vessel thank God. You have to appreciate that back then there was hardly any effective written expose of the mad cult the Watchtower had an answer for everything in the form of a cheap to produce little book written on cigarette paper pages called Make Shure of All Things they had cornered the market in false propaganda .

Way back when that book was written there was hardly any hard information about the errors and damage that the Watchtower Org. created I first saw it in our local Library and I was warned off reading it but thankfully I did manage to read it and its contents made me realise the Watchtower was not all it claimed to be.
The book that clinched it for me was another book he wote called INTO THE LIGHT OF CHRISTIANITY not that I agreed with everything he expounded but it certainly started me thinking that all was not well in Watchtower land .
I think he died of a heart attack eventually around about the 1970s.
think about adam.
he ate of the tree.. but why?
was it because he could not fathom life without eve?
OTruth.
I agree and it's good to have achieved your PHD and obtaining insight into what motivates our actions maybe the sub conscience is our true soul .
The list you supplied certainly clarifies some of the muses going through my brain from time to time and answers the question why.
(disclaimer- i know this is all fairy tales but i like to pick genesis apart since many millions still take it literally and is the foundtion of jw doctrine.
without genesis being real, the whole thing collpses).
i was just reading through genesis yesterday, and it really hit me.
The truth is and I got this from divine inspiration God said to Adam you will take Eve as your lawfull wedded wife or else and Adam looked at Eve and then said to God well let me have a look at your Else and this time leave my chest alone.
has anyone ever thought of creating a jw sitcom?
i mean, there's enough humor and drama in jw culture to keep audiences entertained for multiple seasons.
we have judicial committees, c.o.
Don't forget the disclaimer ; " We cannot be held responsible for any similarity to any person or organisation passed or present alive or dead and is purely coincidental and not intended in any way to attract litigation ."

Just to add as an afterthought it takes awhile for me to get my head around that list of concepts but its interesting nevertheless.

objectivetruth thanks for the info you have caught onto something important from a psychological point of view with this subject namely why certain traits in humans cause them to think and act the way they do. The Jdubs fit very neatly into all of these categories and the list you have compiled highlights the answer to "why would anyone believe all that nonsence." Let's face it with the Witness religion it's all in the mind and the Governing Body are the arch mindbenders.
